NEW LETTER FROM KAELEY JUNE 24TH 2013
Hey! June
24th 2013
Another week has gone by! And a
busy and crazy emotional week for that matter.
We had our big transfer meeting on Tuesday which was the determining
transfer for all who would go to the new Bakersfield Mission or stay in the San
Fernando Mission! It is wonderful to feel the spirit testify that each person
was going where they needed to be and where we would be serving. It is also sad
that some of those people I had come out to the field with that it was the last
time I would see them for the rest of my mission. My Trainee, Sister Cottrell
has been called to a Sister Training Leader with my old MTC companion, Sister Shrivner,
which was really cool and I am so excited for them! So many changes but they are wonderful! We had a Zone Conference for just those that
would be going to the new Bakersfield mission and that was our last zone
conference and last time being with our mission President before the official mission
split. It was wonderful but very emotional! I will miss them so very much! They
have been wonderful but thank heavens for email and Facebook and Skype. They talked to us a lot about what was going
to be happening and how we can help to set the pace and tone for the new
mission and that we are leaving a legacy for those to follow.
Tuesday, it also hit my companion and I just how much responsibility we
have as the English sister Training leaders. We are the only ones for the
Bakersfield mission and the old Ventura Mission is providing the Spanish Sister
training leaders. I will be in Lancaster for sure until Aug. 6 and after that
who knows. But we will travel around the mission doing exchanges and things! It
will be great and very busy. So we will
cover the whole mission this transfer for sisters doing English work and it is exciting,
joyful and overwhelming that the Lord has chosen us to represent him. It is a
big task but I know we will be qualified for our calling and the Lord will
help. We will get to work very closely with the new mission president and his
wife which will be awesome and I am so excited to meet them!!! It will be the best!
The work in our area has picked up again and we have found some great
people who are ready and willing to hear and act upon the Gospel. We had one
man who came to church yesterday that is so amazing and he is ready! He reads
the bible each day and already loves the Book of Mormon. We have another little
family we are teaching that are so cute and they had met with missionaries
before down in LA so it is neat to be continuing to teaching them.
There is one of our investigators who
we simply love and we know that he has felt the spirit and knows that this is
where he needs to be yet he is kind of denying what he has felt. Which makes us
sad but we are still working with him and we know he will come around.
The ward is amazing and we love them
so much! They all have wonderful testimonies and we are really trying to work
with them to invite their friends to learn about the Gospel.
We have seen so many miracles this
week which have been great to see and be a part of! This is definitely the
Lord's work and he is moving it forward! The Broadcast last night, "The work of
Salvation" was amazing and historical. They are making changes to help the
work move forward and we love to see that! And the amazing thing is the work
will only keep increasing. It is true in the Scriptures when it says that work
will never stop till it has hit every land, and people! I am grateful to be
serving the Lord and to be a part of the work and to be able to help with the
new mission! It is a great day to be a
missionary! Thanks for everything! Love you and miss you! Sister Haws

KAELEY'S LETTER JUNE 17TH 2013 WITH SOME FUN NEWS !!
Hey! June
17th 2013
Today has been a
little crazy but it is good. This whole week has been crazy and it seems that
it is only going to get crazier! Monday
night at around 5 we got a phone call from our mission president to inform us
that I was going to get a new companion on Wednesday instead of waiting till
the next transfers. That changed our
plans for the whole week because we thought I was going to be in a trio and
moving in with them and we had scheduled everything so we could cover 2 areas
for the week. So we changed plans again
! But, something that was a huge blessing
was that I was able to go to the Los Angeles Temple twice this week. We had our regular day on Tuesday but Our
President wanted us to stay overnight in Santa Clarita and then I would get my
new companion on Wednesday. So I was
able to go with our Mission President and take my old companion, Sister Fialho,
to the airport and see her off! It was sad to see her go but I was so happy to
be able to be with her till the last minute! I miss her so so much! She is one
of a kind and I am so blessed to have served with her. So after we had gone to the Temple, I received my new companion, Sister Dryeng, and she has been serving in my first area in
Chatsworth ironically enough! So she is
the new sister training leader with me and it has been good!
I wouldn't be honest if I didn't say it was different but it
is a good different. Sometimes it can just be hard for a while to adjust to a
different companion and our different personalities. She is amazing though and she is going to be
great as a sister training leader with me .
AND …………so for the big news….....YES,
I will be serving in the new Bakersfield California Mission. My companion and I will be the English sister
training leaders for the whole Bakersfield Mission when it starts on July
1st! That is VERY exciting and scary all
at the same time. But this is history in
the making and I am so grateful the Lord has trusted us to help the sisters
from the beginning in this new mission.
It has been a very
busy week and we have seen a lot of miracles. One of the best miracles was an
investigator that we have really been struggling to get him to church and help
him to know that God really is there. Well, We finally, FINALLY got him to
commit to church and he came!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was so cool and we know that he received some sort of answer! And he
prayed with us as well which was a huge progression for him! That was so cool!
And we had a family that we found on Saturday that came to church as well! They
were really neat and we feel that they are ready and we are really praying for
them!
Transfer meeting is
this week and we get to go as the sister training leaders which will be awesome
but most of the mission will be there.
This is going to be a big big transfer and shakeup with the mission
split happening and a lot of missionaries are nervous and some having a hard
time but it is all up to the Lord who will be going where! The Lord truly is in
charge.
Being able to go to
the temple twice was a huge blessing from Heavenly Father and I really needed
it! That strength that comes from the temple is amazing and I just love the peace
there! I love the Holy Ghost. I have never been so grateful for the comfort and
the guidance of the Spirit than I have been in this last transfer! It is truly
one of the greatest gifts that Heavenly Father can give us and the greatest
gift we can give to him is to be worthy of that spirit!!
Well, I better go, lots to do today, but I love you all and thanks for
everything! And a Big CONGRATS to Rachel
and Austin for going through the temple!
That is amazing!!! Love you
Sister Haws

New letter and pictures June 10th 2013

This is the big fire she can see that is near Lancaster. She says they go out and the car is covered with ashes and so are they after being outside for a while. |
Hello!!! June 10 2013
This week has been super busy but so fun!!! This was the
first week that my companion and I didn't have exchanges so we were able to
work in our area and get a lot accomplished. And, this was the first official Mission
Leadership Council that we had! It was so neat to be able to be there and to
receive training that will help us to train the Sisters that we are over but
also to help in our area and help our investigators progress as well. We also
had a very busy day with a lot of appointments! AND the coolest thing ever! There was a former
investigator that we contacted within the first couple of weeks being here and
she wanted to learn more. We never could
get with her to meet until this last week. The first time we talked to her she
had an issue with the Book of Mormon but this last time, we taught the
restoration and invited her to read and pray to know the Book of Mormon was
true and she said she would! It was so cool to see how the Lord had prepared
her to hear the message and we then knew why it had taken so long to meet with
her! That was such a testimony to me that things happen at the right time and
only the Lord knows and we must trust in his timing.
We also had the
wonderful chance to help our Zone Leaders train in our Zone training meeting on
Friday! They asked us to train on our purpose as a missionary and talking with
everyone! It was so cool to be able to put it together and then to teach with
my companion! We had a great time. Our mission President and his wife talked a
lot about the fact that we need to be on our purpose with URGENCY because it is
only the Gospel that can change the World and change people's lives. Nothing else can. And we are the only true
church and we must share it with everyone! They also talked about being a
Missionary on Purpose, not by accident. That we can't just accidentally wake up
one more and be a missionary. We have to choose to be a Missionary and do it on
purpose. It was really neat and a lot of things really hit me pretty hard on
just things that I need to improve on and re-delicate myself to the Lord and
His work.
We also had an
interesting lesson with a couple of Baptists! They were very nice but all they
wanted to do was tell us where we were wrong in our doctrine and stuff like
that. So basically bible bashing. But hey, they have a Book of Mormon and you
never know what the Lord will do. My companion leaves this week to go back to
Temple Square and it is really sad and happy all at the same time. I am going
to miss her so much! These have been some of the best transfers and I just love
her so much!!! Transfer meeting isn't until June 18th so I will be in a trio
for a week and then get my new companion. So much change in a week. It can be
scary but we had a lesson in Relief Society yesterday about the Lord's will,
not ours. I keep telling my companion I am going to kidnap her and just pretend
that she got on the plane. It makes me feel better....or maybe I am still in
denial, who knows! But it will be exciting to see what the Lord has planned!
Thanks for all the love and support and letters and emails!
They make the day bright! I love you so much! Sister Haws

Letter from Kaeley June 3rd 2013
Hey, June
3rd 2013
It has been
another crazy week in California! Great week, but crazy! We had 2 more
exchanges and that just makes weeks fly by. I can't believe it is already p-day
again.
On Tuesday
we started our first exchange and I got to be with my companion that I was with
in my 3 transfer here in Cali, Sister Filimoahala !!! It was neat to see how much she has grown and
the amazing things she is doing in here area. On Wednesday and Thursday we
staying in our area and spent some time finding and doing our weekly planning.
And then on Friday, we had a young women come and spend from 11 to 3 with us
doing missionary work. She is getting ready to turn in her papers for a mission
and wanted an experience so that was neat to have her with us and then right
after that, we started our 2nd exchange. And I got to go with my Trainee,
Sister Cottrell !!! That was so fun to see how much she has grown and the even
more amazing person and missionary she has become! I love seeing the growth in
others! We had a good time and worked hard and saw a few miracles! We had one
that was really neat. We went to go see a member in the ward but ended up
talking to this lady across the street. We found out she was a member but
hadn't been active for years and had a question that no one was able to answer.
We answered it for her and she was so surprised! She let us in and we shared
the restoration with her and asked her to read and pray about the Book of
Mormon. She seemed so excited and said she was really been praying to find the
truth! We were so blessed to be able to find her and talk to her about it!
Funny story;
well kind of…..but I had to laugh so I didn't get all upset about it. My Book of Mormon ended up falling in the
water and got wet and dirty. I just starting laughing because I didn't know
what else to do. Some of my notes bleed off the page and I just said, "I
guess that wasn't revelation." :) It was kind funny after the fact. It is
ok and now I will always remember being on exchanges and what happened to my
Book of Mormon.
We FINALLY
had an investigator at church! And he loved it! He has a baptismal date for the
30th of June and he is so excited! He is a neat kid and just loves the Gospel.
We are very excited for him. He is actually one we found when I was on exchanges
in a different area and the sisters were teaching him but then we found out he
lives in our area so now we get to teach him! That was a really neat miracle! This week we
don't have any exchanges but we have a couple of meetings that will keep us
busy! We are excited to really focus on
our area this week and see what we can do to build it back up. It has slowed
down a lot just with exchanges and things but, it will work back up! My
companion doesn't leave this week but next week for Salt Lake City which we
both can't believe how fast it went. I will miss her a lot but she is going
where she is needed!
Thanks for
all the love and support! I hope everyone is doing well! I love you! Sister
Haws
